A very British affair

As the whole world probably knows the British Royal wedding took place yesterday - and we all got a day off work woo woo (well not everybody, but all of my friends and I did!)! I was very suprised over my softening to the whole thing. My family are generally not interested in the Royal family and to be honest most of the time I don't get the major fascination over them. Yes they do bring a lot of money into the economy etc but I don't like the pedestal they are all placed on, they're not more important than everyone else just because they were born into a particular family.

But anyway - despite the fact I was pretty bored of all the wedding hype when the engagement was announced I found myself incredibly excited to watch it this week. And I even found myself tearing up a bit when she started walking down the isle - what on earth happened to me?! Even my pretty anti-royalist sister was endeared by the whole thing, texting me throughout. It was a really lovely wedding!

Of course the dress was the main reason I was so excited and I thought it was absolutely perfect, so elegant and classic (and very Grace Kelly of course). I guess something more elaborate might have been expected from Sarah Burton but it was perfect. I also loved the reception dress, a lot of people hated the mohair cardigan but I lurved it.

And Pippa Middleton - WOW, hats off to Kate for letting her wear that amazing dress. I think I would have made her wear a paper bag....

My friends and I used the day off as an excuse to drink lots of Veuve Clicquot and Pimms, eat ridiculous amounts of cheese, cake and scones and relax in the garden. It was a really great day. Of course talk turned to my friend's wedding in July, so so excited. Although it was funny to see my friend Hannah's reaction when I told her if I have a wedding I'll have an outdoor boho reception with fish & chips, curry and Thai vans instead of a sit down meal. One was not amused!

And one of these people is gonna save the world

Snooze

New items are online at www.littlewing.bigcartel.com and I got some wicked new beads in the post this week so there will be some more new additions at the weekend. I wish I had more time to devote to my little venture at the moment but it's plodding along and the orders have started which is great! Have a photoshoot planned for the start of May as well which I'm looking forward to.

I am so tired at the moment - I don't think I've ever felt this tired - almost like I'm dying at some points! And it's made my skin like a dry pizza and I feel like I'm going to fall over most of the time - but I still can't go to bed early, why is that?! I can't wait until July when I will doing this...

Someone told me there's a girl out there, with love in her eyes and feathers in her hair

Pre-night out Little Wing feathering with Lucy and Amy on Saturday night. Lucy chose some mini saddle feathers and a medium grizzly saddle, and Amy chose some mini natural feathers. Lots of fun!

Also, here's a sneak peek at some new items going live on the site this week:

Put your platforms on

Love my new shoe from good ol' Primark. As usual with Primark they don't fit properly but they're surprisingly easy to walk in and I love how 70s they are. Although I'm sure the strap at the back will become too loose and I won't be able to wear them after a while, but at £14 I don't think I'll feel too bad about it! Please excuse my gnarly feet, blergh..

Here comes the sun

The Easter weekend has been so good, spending quality time with friends and family, dancing the night away, eating chocolate etc etc. Easter Sunday was so nice, I don't see my sister very often and we had a blast mucking around in the garden and rolling down the hill like we used to when we were little. What's my age again?

Froucy and I hit up the Afterdark as usual on Saturday night - the music was not on top form but it was fabulous all the same. We did some Little Wing feathering before hand which I will post seperately!

Love love LOVED Lucy's outfit -

Finally, here's some music for your listening delight. My favourite Afterdark larking around song - and dancing to this live at Download last year was just awesome. You shook me alllllll night longg!

Crying on Easter Monday

... because I made the mistake of watching Steel Magnolias. Gets me every time, and probably every other woman in the world (it's Jackson Junior in his little clown suit that starts me off :(!). But I love Dolly Parton and Daryl Hannah - Annelle's glasses are one of the best things in the movie. And Shirley MacLaine of course!

Blow away dandelion

Another beautiful hot and sunny day in the UK. And a bank holiday. It felt like the end of term at work yesterday, I had another photoshoot this week which cut it even shorter, and then we were all treated to vodka cocktails and prosecco yesterday afternoon. Perfect easter treat.

After my plans for today fell through I indulged in a spot of retail therapy with mother, and then we went in the garden and mucked around taking photos with dandelions, as you do.

Casual Fridays, cracked out my flat espadrilles today - comfiest shoes in the world. Below I'm wearing a new Little Wing necklace and, although you can't see it, a wooden skull bag attachment. I haven't done any kind of promotion for the website yet which is bad, I should really get a move on now I have a few days off work.

Love and awe

I stopped tagging my posts quite a while back, probably a good thing because at the time it was becoming a one word Keith post-tag box... So sorry, here's some more Keef love, and the X-Pensive Winos!

Little Wing is finally live

Little Wing is finally live! Still a bit 'under construction', I have a lot more planning in the works but hopefully all good things have small beginnings. As you will see, as well as hair extensions there are lots of one off hand made jewellery pieces.

Some of the plans in the works are for head pieces, bag attachments, canvas bags, much more elaborate jewellery pieces and... bridal! But for now, I hope you like what you see. And the long and thin feather hair extensions that you will have seen everywhere in America are on their way.

Keef on a cord

It's looking like I might be able to take the store live tonight. Here's a sneak peek of the 'Keith'!

Suited

As I expected the lovely skirt from Zara that I wanted to wear for my friend's wedding has sold out online and I can't find it in store. But in a twist of good fortune I found my ideal outfit while shopping in H&M of all places yesterday.

My original idea was to wear a shorts suit and go for a 70s look with a floppy hat and platforms. I had found the perfect suit in white, but as I said before - white or ivory territory is a no go. And then this dusty pink number appeared yesterday and there you have it:

It needs a good iron and I still need to get a silk top to go underneath (obviously not wearing the skany vest in this photo!). I'll also get a nicer bag and hat, these are just to get the overall idea. Looking forward to finding some pretty shoes too - that's always fun.

It's cheap and cheerful at only £33 quid but I'm not the richest girl in the world and it just leaves me more money to accessorise! And thank goodness I will have just got back from a holiday in the sun - those pasty whites would scare away the congregation!

Beading and threading and looping and feathering...

Have been making jewellery (and continually gluing my fingers together) in the run up to actually putting Little Wing live...

cause you gotta have friiiends

Known these beauties since I was a geek with a rucksack and recorder in the first year of secondary school. The blondie five in from the left is my friend who is getting married this summer and I'm so excited to be doing the reading at the church. As is life, we don't all see eachother as much as we'd like but that's what Blackberrys are for in the mean time hehe.

Blokes come and go but it's the girls you grow old with :).

See by Chloe

We have just started selling See by Chloe shoes at work, but unfortunately we don't have these beauties -

Now I know I'm always saying I want this pair of shoes and I want that pair of shoes. But I REALLY REALLY want these. At £255 I just can't justify it - but I would wear them forever. Hmmm *starts conjuring up quick money making schemes....*

All hail Halen

This song is up there on my list of favourites and is also one of my favourite driving tracks. And it's so awesome in Twister (the film) with the orchestral intro, aghhh I love it! Enjoy.

And on the subject of Twister, Van Halen also did the instrumental that ran over the credits which is also immense.

Mother nature

A beautiful day by the lake to finish off a brilliant weekend.

I was very pleased with my photography today, particularly the rose on the tree stump :).

Shop shop till you drop

This weekend was glorrrrious. After my last post I went to start some holiday shopping and came back loaded with bags which is always fun. Primark have some really nice holiday bits in at the moment, got some cute bikinis including a really loud green and pink and yellow pattern one that reminded me of the lining of bomber jackets in the 90s!

I was also very naughty and bought these little boots from Office in the sale, they're just right for so many outfits. The guy told me I was the only person to buy boots this weekend. Well that figures..

Anyway, enough about that - check out what I managed to find in Poundland (yes I was in all the expensive stores this weekend). £1 each, score!

Developments

So it's a beautiful sunny day outside and I have been indoors all day so far working on the Little Wing website... the price to pay for small ventures! Packing up for the day soon to go shopping.

It is slowly getting there and after a good ol' natter with friends last night I feel even more inspired with lots of new ideas and plans in the works!

Here's a bit of a sneak peek at what I've been working on (check out the skulls!). The website wasn't ready to go live last week but I'm hoping that by tomorrow evening I can put it up. Fingers crossed - so much work to do and so little time!

Want want want

My best ever pair of sandals were from H&M. They have died a sad death, but now I've spotted these I know how to replace them! Hoping I can get a pair of the black this weekend - or maybe I'll be naughty and buy both...!

It's in the bag

Summer is just around the corner - and that means my summer holiday is too!! So excited to get away for some sun and fun. I haven't started my holiday shopping yet but that will commence this weekend with a bit blow out.

When summer is around the corner, that also means that my birthday is too. This year I have asked for a record player, but I also feel like a decent bag would be a good idea. I don't buy a lot of bags, well not expensive quality ones anyway and I would never spend money on expensive designer bags anyway (unle I got a mega mega mega discount!) but I do like a classic design. And I tell you what - I love a Marks and Spencer bag! And they have so many different types that I have my eye on at the moment, with my holiday in mind. Here are the ones on my lust list at the moment:

The top two are my favourites for the beach, and at £40 for the pair I think I can justify this purchase.

And the one on the birthday wish list:

I ooo and ahhh over this bag whenever I go Marks with Mother. It is the perfect, classic chuck-it-all-in bag. I also love how supple the leather is. I would use this forever and it would also be a perfect plane journey bag. It's a little bit Celine, at a fraction of the price (although it is £99 so not something I could justfiy buying on my own - or asking for for my birthday!) But perhaps a little bit of birthday help...

Ohh, and on another note - remember me saying how indecisive I am? After a gazillion blog design changes (I love playing around with things) I am back to my good old original Marianne header. Always the way isn't it!
