My blonde hair is so lack-lustre. This colour is on the cards for when my hair gets just that little bit longer..

It's gonna be a lovely day
Summer is here! Well, it feels like it for now anyway.
Reading a book by the river near my house, larrrvely.
I bared my legs for the first time this year today, but then hid them under a long jersey skirt. I'm loving this black one at the moment, I've worn it so many times recently but it's so easy to wear (and is so comfortable!).

Haider Ackermann boots
I love these Haider Ackermann backless boots that I spotted on Caroline's Mode. Would love to wear them in summer with denim shorts, a white shirt and a trilby.

Let's have a sleepover
I miss having girly gatherings and sleepovers, among many other things that I miss about my teenage days! And so I was very excited by one of Wildfox's recent blog posts, a (grown-up) 1930s sleepover at Kimberley Gordon's house... I love this! Makes me want to bring back the fun of the sleepover in my own house... although its probably not as cosy (wooden floors) and we'd have to throw the boys out....
I wish I was one of the Wildfox girls!

Blue mohair
Today I covered my post-night-out bed hair with a blue mohair hat that my boyfriend got me for Christmas, along with a very blue outfit
Mother's Day jig! <3

I went to a very beautiful wedding reception last night which was so much fun, seeing people really in love and a whole room having an amazing time throwing some shapes can make you feel really good about life.

Rollercoaster
Fun times at Thorpe Park yesterday. No queues and lots of sunshine, hurrah! (Except the car wouldn't start in the morning - flat battery init. Thank you for saving us Green Flag man!)

Recipe for a Sham
Today has been spent designing for another blog project I am working on, so now my eyes feel slightly crossed. I am way too undecisive with fonts and colours and all that shizzle - I only ever end up going with minimalist black and white anyway!
Anyway, yesterday was my boyfriend's birthday and I baked up a bit of a storm. I'm usually a wiz at cupcakes but it was a bit of a disaster. Scales collapsing, resulting in bad mix and cupcakes that resembled yorkshire puddings. Round two - icing ran out.
The outcome, however, was pretty tasty and earned itself a new name - the 'Sham' cake (as we live in the 'sham (Caversham) and they were a big sham. If you would like to cook them for yourself here is the, slightly unusual, recipe!
INGREDIENTS
1 LARGE CUP OF FLOUR (IF YOU WANT TO MAKE THEM WITH SCALES - 125G)
1 LARGE CUP OF CASTER SUGER (DITTO ABOVE)
125G OF BUTTER
3 EGGS
A DASH OF MILK
HALF A TEASPOON OF VANILLA ESSENCE
HOW TO MAKE
1. BREAK YOUR SCALES, FORCING YOU TO MEASURE BY CUP
2. CREAM TOGETHER THE BUTTER AND CASTER SUGAR
3. ADD TWO EGGS, ONE BY ONE, AND MIX WITH THE BUTTER AND SUGAR, ADDING A SPOON OF FLOUR BETWEEN
4. ADD AN EXTRA EGG, JUST FOR THE HELL OF IT
5. ADD IN THE FLOUR, AND THEN A BIT MORE FLOUR THAN USUAL, JUST TO MAKE THEM A BIT MORE DRY Y'KNOW?
6. MIX TOGETHER
7. POUR INTO CUPCAKE CASES AND COOK AT 200 DEGREES FOR ABOUT 12 MINUTES (15 IF YOU WANT TO OVERCOOK THEM A BIT LIKE I DID)
8. AFTER TIME IS UP, TAKE OUT AND LEAVE TO COOL
9. START ICING WITH WHIPPY VANILLA ICING - UNTIL IT RUNS OUT AFTER ONLY A FEW CAKES
10. PANIC
11. FIND EVERY KIND OF SUGARY SNACK IN THE KITCHEN, CHOCOLATE BASED IF POSSIBLE. WE FOUND ROLOS AND CHOCOLATE COINS
12. MELT IN A PAN WITH SOME SYRUP AND BUTTER
13. ADD SOME RICE CRISPIES (OR OTHER CEREAL) TO BULK UP
14. CHUCK IN TONS OF SPRINKLES SO IT DOESN'T LOOK COMPLETELY LIKE A PAN OF POO
15. SPREAD ON TOP OF THE CUPCAKES, ADD SOME MORE SPRINKLES AND...
VOILA! YOU HAVE MADE SOME SHAM CAKES! ALTHOUGH THEY MAY LOOK LIKE DUNG TOPPED FAIRY CAKES, THEY DO TASTE DIVINE. SOMETHING ABOUT THE CEREAL TOPPING - ADDS A GREAT CRUNCH. I'M BEING SERIOUS ABOUT OVER COOKING THEM A LITTLE. THE FACT THEY'RE A BIT DRY ACTUALLY WORKS WITH THE CRUNCHY TOPPING.
ENJOY!

Making waves
I'm in love with the Toni and Guy Deep Barrel Waver that I borrowed from my house mate. It makes gorgeous retro waves in a matter of seconds - no pins or rollers! I had a go at that, then I brushed them all out and they turned into beachy waves that even lasted until the next day. My hair looked quite frizzy after sleeping on it but nothing a bit of serum wouldn't sort out.
Check out my lazy eye!

Marni
I had a ganders at the dregs of the Marni for H&M collection on Friday. I loved this jacket, but unfortunately at about £165 I'm not in the position to buy it! Spotted it on Elin Kling's blog today, she wears it so well.

Why do I give valuable time...
... is what has been on the mind lately. A lot of giving or caring and nothing back is often the case it seems at the moment. Like a one way street. It's a shame.
On another note, I am loving this at the moment, but then who isn't (#overexposed)
